Cutting Down On Ants Around Your Office

Posted on: 26 February 2018

If you tend to get ants in your office during certain seasons and that season is nearing, then you want to start taking as many steps as you can to help prevent those ants from coming back to harass you and your employees this year. An ant infestation can create a very uncomfortable work area for those in your company. There are some fantastic tips to keeping ants away and getting rid of them, if they do show up, in this article.

Sprinkle coffee grounds around in the dirt – You can take the used coffee grounds from your office's coffee maker and sprinkle them in the dirt outside of the office. Since ants don't like coffee grounds, this can be a great way for you to keep the ants from being drawn into the office space. Also, since coffee grounds are something you are more than likely using on a daily basis in the office, and would otherwise throw away, this is a very affordable thing for your company to do, when it comes to winning the war on ants.

Don't leave crumbs – Ants are little scavengers that look for any opportunity to gather food that's easy to access. They will send out scouts to go find food sources. When the scouts return with goodies, the army will then follow them back to the source of the food, and this is how you end up with an ant infestation in the office. Just a few crumbs can keep a large number of ants busy for a good length of time. This is why it is so important to make sure employees know to sweep the lunch and lunch prep area at the end of each business day. You also want to make sure they are wiping down the counters after use.

Call a pest control service – Sometimes, you can find yourself being harassed by ants no matter what precautions you try to take. If this is the case, then you may want to have a pest control service treat your office regularly. This will be the best way for you to finally put an end to the war against ants. It may be best if you can have the pest control company come out to spray after-hours. This way, you won't have to worry about them getting in the way of your employees while they are trying to do their job.
